Mr. Alkire has represented plaintiffs and defendants in civil jury trials and court trials in federal and state courts, as well as in private arbitrations and mediations. 

He served as an arbitrator in the Los Angeles Superior Court Civil Arbitration Program, hearing business litigation disputes, from 1981 through 1983.  He sat as arbitrator in approximately ten civil cases during that time.

Mr. Alkire has served as an arbitrator in the Nevada County Superior Court judicial arbitration program from 2004 to the present.

Mr. Alkire has been appointed by the Nevada County Board of Supervisors to serve as a Hearing Officer for Nuisance Abatement hearings.
